The portraits are all about the artist's qualities and virtues. Špela has produced a number of portraits and self portraits such as The Dragon's Bath where she placed herself into a mystic Asian surrounding. She likes to use the connection with her daughter Anabel and also her friends. One of the highlighted paintings well capturing the moment is The Smoker. Beside portraits she also paints different motives demanding different approaches on using colors and compositions. Occasionally she also paints the landscape. In her paintings she derives out of the mimetic art principle and respects the grand European art tradition and its contemporary artistic transformation leading to many liberal artistic interpretations Marlen Premšak
